Jane’s contemporary artwork is inspired by the hills and coastline surrounding her home at Hahei on the Coromandel Peninsula and influences of her childhood in the tussock country of the central South Island often surface in the narrative of her works. Printmaking is also an integral part of her art practice and she is one of 10 members of the Printmakers Combined group who meet regularly to share ideas and techniques.
My work has changed from traditional transparent watercolours to more contemporary mixed media and now Printmaking has been add to the list. My art has been influenced by the coastal environment I live in and my time spent in Asia.
Kay de Blaauw
I am a mixed media artist known for a modern eclectic style, and use of bold colour, texture and free-flowing form. My artistic journey began in childhood. I grew up in a family that valued art and freedom of expression, and often had a paintbrush in my hand. Lately I have been experimenting with layering and mixed media as part of Printmakers Combined.
Leanne Litherland is a mixed media artist with a love of painting and printmaking. She enjoys using texture and colour to create unique and original artwork. Leanne enjoys abstract, impressionism and landscapes.
I try not to be constrained by what I think an image should look like. I try to allow things to happen on their own. I like a painting to speak to me. For a quiet painting I’ll use a range of similar values, but for a livelier painting I’ll use a wider range of values with more light and dark contrast. When I’m painting I live for colour and light.
An award winning artist of distinction, she allows the viewer to enjoy their ‘journey’ through the many aspects of her work, delighting in the direction in which it takes them. Paula works in all mediums, surprising the viewer with her diverse use of colour and approach to modernism. Her working studio, the fresh, lively environment, surrounding sea and landscape create the inspiration for many of her vibrant and compelling works.
Susan Dunster paints in a fluid, fragmented and abstract manner. She weaves vibrant colours and shapes across the surface so that things dissolve into each other. Susan seeks to express a deeper emotional and spiritual reality beneath the surface appearance of things.
Art has always been a passion and relaxation for Tina Carey. Her working background was advertising and textiles doing design and colour ranges in her early years.
Verena is a mixed media artist. Mixed media allows combining various substances to the paint and various materials onto the painting surface (paper, sand, inks and more). Verena’s recent works are semi abstract or abstract: colour, shape and lines are expressing Verena’s environment and her thoughts.
Sally Samins studied at Sydney College of the Arts. She became a well known sports photographer, specializing in America’s Cup yachting. After developing her artistic eye through photography, she decided to follow her childhood dream of becoming a painter and has created a distinctive style that combines strong visual composition with rich color. Strongly influenced by a childhood in Australia and thirty years of living in the USA. Samins work has a strong visual impact while evoking feelings of comfort and familiarity, and continuing to reveal itself in its detail.
