Kirsty Black
Hi, I’m Kirsty Black a contemporary NZ abstract artist, painting from my studio in Maraetai, Auckland. I exhibit and sell my work around the country and have sold both nationally and internationally. I also have a piece ‘Pontoon Bay’ in The James Wallace Arts Trust private collection.
I am interested in the process of communicating visual thought, and am fascinated with the way intangible ideas, emotions and memories can be conveyed through the choice of colours, shape, repetition and composition. Growing up I was immersed in stimulating, often multicultural environments that included vibrant and intoxicating South East Asian cities to adventures in dramatic geological landscapes in South Africa. This background has left a lasting impression and created a visual catalogue which frequently surfaces in my work.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
Molly Morpeth Canaday 2017 Awards: Finalist
The James Wallace Arts Trust: Pontoon Bay
Estuary Art Awards 2015 (Curated by Rob Garret): Finalist
Estuary Art Awards 2013 (Curated by Warwick Brown): Finalist
